Invitation to Soften Your Mind

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
-Rumi

Although there may be many situations in your life that need attention, is there one thing you know that, if you took inspired action, would leave you feeling relieved, less stressed, or more at peace?

What exactly is keeping you from doing that?

Sometimes the reason may be fear of what others might say. Perhaps it’s making a doctor’s appointment because of a health concern, prioritizing needed house repairs, feeling too tired to care, or speaking up about family dynamics. What is yours?

Is your mind holding onto an attitude or grudge that says things never change, so why bother? Are you walking on eggshells because you dread the response? Or do you fear someone will withdraw their love? Does someone owe you money, and you haven’t advocated for yourself? These are only a few of the scenarios that may be presenting themselves.

Is your energy being poured into worry, resentment, fear, or trying to control the uncontrollable? Or is it being invested in gratitude, possibility, healing, and faith in what is yet to unfold?

Remember, you are not alone. There is an invisible realm beyond what is seen. Some describe this unseen realm as a field of energy that connects all of us. Others connect with and refer to it as God, Source, the Divine, Mother Earth, nature, angels, or guides—unseen anchor points that offer support and wisdom.

I invite you to tap into these energies daily, asking for signs, inner peace, or a deeper knowing, especially when you feel most entangled in life.

Think about the statement, “Where you place your attention, your energy flows.”Where are you placing your energy?

We all have free will and can choose. This does not mean neglecting responsibilities. The invitation is deeper. What if we asked different questions, such as: What if I could make a different choice? What is possible here for the highest good of all? Is this really mine to do?

More importantly, are you loving and honoring yourself enough to know that it is not selfish to take care of yourself first? Are you willing to release an old pattern of sacrifice that often results in carrying resentment or disappointment?

Allow yourself to release the story, the overwhelm, the doubt, and the uncertainty. Be open to embracing a desired feeling of peace, harmony, and love, which serves you in a much greater way.

We are all on a path of evolution. World events have accelerated our awakening to who we truly are. Consciously lean into love, forgiveness, and acceptance. Tap into the energy field and realm of possibility that exist beyond what the mind can presently see.

Perhaps the invitation is not to have all the answers, but to become aware of where we are placing our attention. The unseen forces of life—whether we call them faith, spirit, intuition, nature, or grace—are always present. As we shift our focus from what is wrong to what is possible, we create space for new solutions.

Love is the answer.

Love is not merely an emotion; it is a way of being. It invites us to move beyond fear, judgment, and the need to control every outcome. It asks us to soften our grip on struggle and return to the wisdom of the heart and soul.

Are we giving more power to the interpretations we assign to our circumstances than to the bigger picture or the deeper truth?

A setback may become a lesson. A loss may become an opening. A challenge may reveal strengths we never knew we possessed. The event itself is only part of the story; the meaning we assign to it often shapes our experience far more than the circumstance itself.

One of my mentors, Dr. Sue Morter, reminds us that for years we have tried to outrun or battle our problems and circumstances.

“We are in the movie that we created in our lives, and the energy underneath all the problems we see.”

A question Dr. Sue often asks is, “What would we be doing if our minds weren’t spending energy solving a problem—or even creating a problem so they could solve it?”

So many times in my life, I can see how I was driven by my mind to solve things that were not even my problem or responsibility. Maybe you can relate.

How would we use our energy if we lived as though there were nothing to fix? That neither “they” nor “I” were the problem?

This perspective provides an opportunity for the mind to slow down and for us to drop from our heads into our hearts and souls.

Envision taking an elevator from your mind into your heart.

Breathe.

How does that feel now?

Begin again. Lean into the uncomfortable and the unknown. Trust your inner wisdom to show you a different way. What you resist persists, so let go. Make a different choice. Shift your perspective. Invite your mind to soften.

Today, choose that one thing you identified that needs inspired action—and act. There is no need to continue carrying the thoughts that keep tugging at your heels. Take those shoes off.

Step forward.

Go outside. Place your feet on the ground—in the dirt, grass, or sand. Ground yourself and commune with nature. Tap into the energy all around you as you move forward, realign, and become the love that you are.
