Allowing – Be in the moment!

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand that to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember, all things are possible for those who believe.”

– Gail Devers

Gail Devers is a renowned five-time World Champion track and field sprinter. Gail believed she was far greater than any circumstances. Even after being diagnosed with Graves’ disease, which threatened to end her athletic journey, she continued to persevere, exuding dedication, determination, and unwavering faith, being all she could be. Her legacy inspires and supports others to live and keep their dreams alive.

What dreams are still in your heart? Have you allowed yourself to think about them? Might they feel out of reach?

What is one step you can take today to ignite your heart for greater passion and love?

Who do you need to show up as in your life to allow possibilities to present themselves?

Allowing yourself to BE in the moment is the first step. One of the many teachings I learned was, “We all get to choose our response in every situation.” This means we are responsible for the situation we create before us. This is powerful. I am responsible for my reality. Feelings get triggered in our body, and we react with thoughts. Some of these thoughts are loving, and others can be nasty and judgmental.

Recall a pleasant and loving situation; how did you respond? Recall an adversarial or uncomfortable situation; how did you respond? We get to choose. This doesn’t mean you roll over and give up or give in. As I often say, when we speak from our hearts and not from our minds, others will receive our intention more clearly.

A beautiful reset opportunity is upon us. It’s a new year, and with that, we can open to new beginnings!

Oftentimes, we think we must set goals or set New Year’s resolutions. Yet, we all know, rarely are these sustained! What if… it was not a “to do” but a “to be”?

Can you embrace that thought with greater openness and willingness?

What if you set an intention “to be” with more focused energy and love? A time for yourself and with others to be more open, more honest, more vulnerable, more compassionate, more understanding, more courageous, more caring, more loving, yes, more heartfelt love for you in all areas of your life!!

Are you willing to surrender thoughts and busyness of your mind?

Allow yourself to be in the moment. This is one of those “to be” intentions. Sit quietly. Yes, that means giving yourself 5-8 minutes of NO interruptions or distractions. You deserve to give yourself more time to be present with yourself. We have so many thoughts; at times, it seems impossible. If you choose to accept…

My New Year’s challenge for you is to allow yourself to practice taking at least 5-8 minutes daily to train your mind to quiet itself. You will begin to appreciate these moments and want more. It takes practice and a loving discipline, like when we were children and learned the importance of washing our hands and brushing our teeth.

Some of you may need to give yourselves permission to stop running and taking care of everyone else before meeting your own needs. Decide to consciously be present in the moment. Dedicate a minimum of 5-8 minutes to sit quietly.

In the beginning of this practice, you may notice your thoughts and mind jumping from one detail to the next. This is normal. Be conscious in this moment and allow yourself to open to the essence of peace. BREATHE. Take a deep breath or imagine it, from beneath the earth, into a big Buddha belly breath that continues up an inner channel into your heart that flows right up through the top of your head. As you practice, you will notice your mind begins to focus more on how it feels as you breathe up and down the channel.

What if you could feel more at peace and serene every day? Allow yourself to be more present in every moment!

I will be practicing my central channel breath right with you as I leave for my New Zealand adventure!

Wishing you an amazing year of love, health, and happiness!
