“In the solitude of the sky, the eagle finds its truest freedom, teaching us to embrace our own independence.” — Unknown
“You are not called to be a canary in a cage. You are called to be an eagle, and fly sun to sun over continents.” — Henry Ward Beecher
Although I know we are evolving as a species, and that our life experiences are happening for us, to learn, to create, and to heal, the journey is not always easy. Our minds instinctively want to solve, fix, control, analyze, dramatize, or simply numb themselves through distractions and familiar habits. We replay old stories, rehearse conversations that never happened, and carry emotional baggage that was never ours to keep.
Yet something remarkable is happening.
Many people are sensing a profound shift in consciousness. We are beginning to rise above the noise of our everyday lives and see things from a much higher perspective… a bird’s-eye view. Like the eagle soaring effortlessly above the landscape, we begin to recognize that many of the stories we have told ourselves are simply interpretations rather than truth.
How often do we create stories about what someone else meant, why they acted the way they did, or what they should have done differently?
We convince ourselves that if another person would only change, apologize, understand us, or meet our expectations, then we could finally be at peace. But these stories become invisible cages. They keep us circling the same emotional terrain, unable to rise above disappointment, resentment, guilt, or fear.
The eagle teaches us something very different.
It does not waste its energy fighting every gust of wind. Instead, it trusts the currents that allow it to soar higher. From that greater altitude, the landscape looks entirely different. Problems that once appeared overwhelming become much smaller. The eagle conserves its energy for what truly matters.
Where are you placing your emotional energy?
Where do you store your disappointment, frustration, or sadness?
Some people carry it in their stomach, living with a constant knot of anxiety. Others feel it in their chest as heaviness or pressure. Some experience tightness in their neck and shoulders, carrying the weight of responsibilities that were never meant to be theirs alone. Others swallow their words, remaining silent to avoid conflict, believing that keeping the peace outside somehow creates peace within.
Yet the person most affected by unspoken emotions is often ourselves.
When we continually absorb incoherent emotional energy without releasing it, our bodies remember. We become exhausted, disconnected, and out of alignment with our authentic selves. Over time, this imbalance can affect not only our emotional well-being but also our physical health. Our bodies gently whisper before they begin to shout.
How are you feeling in your life right now?
Do you long to feel lighter… more joyful… more peaceful?
What would help you “fly like an eagle”?
Nearly fifty years ago, the Steve Miller Band sang, “Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future… Fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me.” Those lyrics still resonate today. Time continues to move whether we are awake to our lives or not. The invitation is not to rush through life but to allow Spirit to carry us beyond fear and into freedom.
Over the past few decades, more people seem to be awakening spiritually. Rather than moving through life on autopilot, many are becoming more conscious of the connection between mind, body, and soul. They are asking deeper questions, seeking authentic healing, and discovering that true freedom is not found by controlling life but by trusting it.
Like the eagle, we are invited to rise above the storms instead of becoming trapped within them. We are called to release the old narratives that no longer serve us and embrace a broader perspective rooted in love, compassion, and wisdom.
Freedom is not the absence of challenges.
Freedom is the ability to soar above them.
As we let go of limiting beliefs, old emotional wounds, and the need to control every outcome, we create space for peace to enter. We remember who we truly are—not canaries confined by fear, but eagles created to soar with courage, vision, and grace.
Perhaps today is your invitation.
Take a slow, deep breath.
Spread your wings. Trust the unseen currents beneath you, the winds of Spirit.
