“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live a life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours.”
– Henry David Thoreau
Do you distract yourself from what you truly desire in life?
Often, we make decisions as if what we would love is only a dream, one we never really believed could come true. Yet, we know if we don’t believe things are possible, they are less likely to manifest. Unless… we are willing to create an opening in our heart and soul for something beyond just our thoughts.
What comes to mind when you think of times you’ve minimized or dismissed your heartfelt desires for something you would love?
No matter our age, our dreams are inspired by something inside of us that is greater than what we can figure out in the moment. It’s about listening to the quiet voice within and taking small steps. Desiring peace, joy, love, calm, health, and abundance is all possible. Believing in our dreams requires faith, trust, focus, purpose, and vision.
At times, when I feel distracted by life’s events, I notice doubt and judgment creeping into what I would love, giving more power to those thoughts or to someone else’s beliefs about what is possible. Why do we do that? What if we trusted more in our Divine guidance, rather than trying to control outcomes or protect ourselves from being hurt or disappointed?
Remember, no one does anything to us; things are happening for us. It’s essential to take responsibility for our own thoughts and actions.
I have learned that being in action doesn’t always mean having a lot to do—the daily lists we hold in our minds, on our phones, or on paper clutter our desks. It starts with the willingness to let go of the distractions that pull us away from our authentic selves.
Can you relate? Take a moment, even if it’s only for a few minutes daily, to sit quietly, take a conscious breath, and ask for guidance. Are you taking care of you?
For many years, my perception of taking action to help others gave me a feeling of being productive and satisfied. However, upon reflection, I realized this kind of action often meant abandoning myself in terms of self-care and relationships. I’ve come to understand that taking care of myself first is not selfish at all—it is essential. It requires courage to take small steps, which lead to a healthier you and the fulfillment of your dreams. It’s truly not about “doing” things, but about “being” ourselves and living from the inside out.
In the word satisfaction is action.
How might you empower yourself? You get to choose! There are endless possibilities for daily activities that support you. For example, before you go to sleep, when you wake up in the morning, while sitting in your car, or waiting for an appointment—these are just a few opportunities. I’ve offered suggestions for each letter of the word satisfaction, but feel free to play around and create your own. I hope this helps you soften into greater love and satisfaction in your life!
