What if I Could

How many times have you told yourself you could not do something? Or, maybe overheard someone else use those words?

“It’s not worth speaking up in my relationship, they never listen to me anyway.” “I rather not make waves.”

“I can’t travel, I don’t have enough money.” “I can’t leave my job.”

“Oh, I get so overwhelmed with everything, I don’t even know where to start!”

“My kids are still in college; I can’t think about what I want now.”

“I’m not able to do what I used to do. I am too old.”

“I keep trying to eat healthier.” “I want to move, but I don’t know where.”

Can you identify with any of these statements? These all come from a fixed mindset, limited thinking versus being growth-minded to possibilities.

As a life coach, consultant, and author, my passion is creating and holding space for individuals and groups to reflect and to expand on their personal and professional well-being. Collaboratively using a system of change provides a bridge from old beliefs, patterns and habits that are no longer serving to creating space for transformational change, understandings, greater inner peace and happiness.

What if I were to tell you, that YOU, can have greater happiness and peace NOW? YES!

The secret is not anything that is outside of yourself. It all starts with your mindset. The research of Good, Rattan and Dweck (2008), states that thoughts, are a mental attitude that determines how you will respond to life’s situations, and with a growth-mindset we can develop and change.

One of the stories in my book, The Art of Being Nice, Own Your Voice for Greater Fulfillment, is about a woman, who was in a middle management job, feeling good about herself and her team meeting their performance targets. Her job had become her life, a place where she felt needed, and dedicated most of her time since her children had now graduated and lived in different States.

During the past year, the company for which she worked over 20 years, changed leadership and the new style of management did not align with her values, and a collaborative team approach. She began to realize that for a long time she had been looking outside of herself to bring her happiness and contentment. She felt she had lost her passion and purpose in life. One evening while attending a Continuing Education workshop, two questions were asked, “What would you love?” and “What if you could?

When she was honest with herself and listened to her heart, she realized she had been unhappy in her job and was holding on because of financial security and it was at least something she knew.

Up until now, her fear and doubt had kept her feeling stuck. She decided to explore her options at work, sought outside financial guidance and was more open to the possibilities of “what if she could” retire?

Six months later, she retired from her job and started helping people wanting interior home design consultations.  This had been something she loved doing for her friends and family but never thought it could become a new revenue stream. Today, she is happier, with more freedom and fulfillment, doing what she loves.

“Our only limitations are those we set up in our own mind.” -Napoleon Hill

“Remember, building strength, courage, and trust is a continuous process. It involves developing a mindset of resilience, relying on faith, and taking action in alignment with your inner wisdom. Your inner wisdom, your spirit, is calling you to be more open to possibilities, even when we don’t know the how.

What if you could be open to possibilities beyond what your current circumstances and mind is telling you?

Here’s a challenge for you …. Are you willing to commit to a few minutes, without judgement to ask yourself, “What if I could? “

If you accept this challenge, I would love to know what opens up for you. Drop me an email: dalbano1017@gmail.com and let me know I would love to support you!

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
